Nestled on the steep slopes of the Helderberg Mountain range on the top of the golden triangle in Stellenbosch, Delavia Wine Estate boasts breath-taking views overlooking the Cape Peninsula. This region of the Cape is known for mineral rich soils that produce some of the Cape Winelands best quality wines.
Here the Viljoen family produces a range of acclaimed boutique style wines that reflect Delavia’s unique Cape heritage. From cultivation of the vines to the hand picking of the grapes and the final process of the winemaking, this is a true labour of love.
The foundation for our success was established in 2009. Delavia Wine Estate is located in the internationally acclaimed wine region of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape. The 25-hectare property has 20 hectares under vine surrounded with pristine indigenous Fynbos flora.
Delavia wine estate was first a citrus farm in the 1980’s owned by Simon Barlow. Simon Barlow broke the soil and planted the vines 500 meters above sea level in 1989. By 2001 he expanded his crops to the lower parts of the estate at 300 meters above sea level.
The cultivars from the farm include Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
